Senior wrestler Kyle Johnson has signed to wrestle for Fort Hays State Univeristy.
Johnson signed the letter of intent Friday morning.
Johnson is a three-time state tournament medalist, finishing fifth his freshman year and was state runner up his sophomore years.
Head Wrestling Coach Eric Napier said Fort Hays is getting an excellent wrestler.
“He‘s really explosive,” Napier said. “He comes after you every match, he pushes the action the whole match.”
Johnson, son of Curt and Diane Johnson, said he‘s looking forward to wrestling for the school.
“Their wrestling team is pretty good,” he said, adding, “it‘ll be really good in a few years.”
He also said he believes he‘ll learn a lot from his fellow wrestlers at Fort Hays.
“The guys they have at my weight can teach me a lot,” Johnson said. “I should be able to fill in their slot when they graduate.”
Johnson said his ultimate goal is to be an All-American by the time he graduates college.
He also said he plans to coach some in while in college pursuing a physical therapy degree.
