Pretty well summed up the Lady Titans 53-52 loss in their final game in the Lancer Classic Saturday at Cherokee.
After falling behind 9-2 in the opening minutes of the game the Lady Titans trailed through the contest. Until the clock showed 3:56 to go in the game, the Lady Titans took a one point lead coming from eight points down.
The teams played back and forth until time expired with the Lady Rams leading.
Danielle Crain and Natalie Koons shared the scoring honors with 12 points each and Audra Stover adding 11 points.
Paige Fletcher scored five points all in the first half.
Bailie Hatfield Jessica Anderson and Cassie Stanley each scored four points.
“We got a little tired and didn’t box anybody out,” said Riverton Lady Rams coach Will Mallett. “Columbus took advantage of our let down but we didn’t give up.”
The Lady Rams were led in scoring by Aubry Dodge with 22 points including a basket with three seconds to go in the game for the win.
“We had no execution at the end, said Boeckman. “We weren’t ready to play at the end. We played behind in the tourney and come back but we didn’t tonight.”
The Lady Titans will be at home tonight (Monday) making up a game with Iola that was frozen out before the holiday break.
“We need to come back together for the game at home, we need to get a win against Iola,” said Boeckman.
The Lady Titans game will start at 6 p.m.
